Objectives of this course

On completion of this CPD activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the development, key characteristics, and potential sequelae of hypertrophic scars (HSc).
  • Explain basic scientific principles relevant to burn scar management.
  • Evaluate the evidence supporting or refuting common conservative treatment interventions for scar management following burn injuries.
  • Describe how mechanotransduction and neurogenic inflammation relate to common conservative treatment interventions for scar management following burn injuries.
