Objectives of this course
On completion of this CPD activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss variations and examples of ethical tensions experienced by healthcare professionals.
- Discuss the role and limitations of professional bodies and guidelines in resolving ethical tensions in the South African context.
- Elaborate on the tri-modal ethics curriculum implemented by the Department of Occupational Therapy at a university in South Africa.
- Discuss the ethical tensions and reflections of fourth-year occupational therapy students during fieldwork.
- Describe how fourth-year occupational therapy students navigated and/or resolved ethical tensions during fieldwork.
- Discuss strategies that can be implemented to assist occupational therapy students and therapists in resolving ethical tensions during fieldwork.
