Objectives of this course

On completion of this CPD activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Explain De Quervain’s stenosing tendinosis (DQST) in terms of its prevalence, causes, affected muscles and tendons, symptoms, and associated challenges.
  • Describe strategies for preventing DQST, as well as both the conservative and non-conservative treatment options.
  • Outline the role of occupational therapy in supporting new mothers living with DQST.
  • Discuss the impact of DQST on the daily occupations of first-time mothers.
  • Evaluate new mothers’ understanding of DQST risk factors, and their understanding and application of management strategies.
  • Identify the desired delivery characteristics for future DQST prevention education.
