Course Objectives

• Describe executive functioning challenges in high-functioning clients (e.g. burnout, ADHD, PTSD, concussion/TBI and more) and how these impact performance in complex, skilled work roles.
• Apply an OT-specific approach to assessing executive functioning, integrating standardised tools, clinical observation, and real-world work demands.
• Interpret and synthesise findings to determine work capacity, readiness for return to work, and potential risks in professional or corporate environments.
• Formulate practical, defensible recommendations for medico-legal and vocational reports, including reasonable accommodations and graded return-to-work strategies.

Jacqui Edgar

Jacqui is an Occupational Therapist (OT) specialising in the assessment and treatment of adolescents and adults with psychiatric conditions. She qualified in 2011, Cum Laude, from the University of Pretoria and has worked in both public and private mental health settings, including Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and Akeso Clinic in Parktown. Her clinical interests include ADHD, cognitive rehabilitation, return-to-work intervention, and functional capacity evaluations (FCEs). She is currently working in Private Practice in Knysna.
